Question: I've downloaded the M621 - Development kit, but after installation without number(what number should I use?) the error message apeares when detecting device by init function. However your software works perfectly. Can you help me here?
Answer: The InitHardware function may fail because of several reasons. Here is the part of list of the error codes: Please check the return value of the InitHardware function. However, the development kit is optional accessory. You may download it for free to check its capabilities but for full functionality you need the 'authorization code' which should be entered at development kit installation time (it is the number you had asked about). Please check our website http://etc.sk/products/m621/m621dk.php?lang=eng about development kit ordering information and pricelist.
Question: Are the probes bought with device compensated for device input impedance?
Answer: No. It is necessary to compensate probes before their first usage. The compensation process is explained in user's guide.
Question: Does the device works as a spectrum analyzer?
Answer: Device can perform fourier transformation of the measured signal. Since user has to mark signal period, device is not considered as spectrum analyzer. Vertical amplifier frequency range is 150MHz and from 50MS sampling frequency (to 5GS) the signal must be periodic and correctly synchronized, to enable the transformation. The other problem is missing antialiasing filter in input amplifier what may result in occurence of \'phantom frequencies\'.
Question: Does the USB connection of device (EC602 adapter) slows the communication speed down?
Answer: No. Adapter EC602 speeds the communication up by approx. 25%.
Question: I need parallel port driver for ETC M621 running under Windows XP professional. Where can I find it.
Answer: The name of parallel port driver is EtcEpb. It is located on CD you have received with the oscilloscope. The latest version is also available on: http://www.etc.eu/main/download/ Produkt = ETCEPB Modification = Win2000/XP
Question: I've just seen information about development kit ordering and pricelist. And I one question - in case of multilicense, how many DSO we can use with one DK (for several M621 DSOs - as you site said - what does several mean)?
Answer: Buying multilicense you can use the development kit for unlimited number of M621 oscilloscopes. We will need the serial numbers of those devices and then we will provide you with registration codes for each device according to its serial number.
Question: Is it possible to connect EMLII devices to the computer using USB?
Answer: Yes with EC602 adapter. You can connect up to four devices using EC602 adapter.
Question: Is it possible to connect more devices to one parallel port?
Answer: Yes, it is possible to connect two devices using EA604/2 adapter, three devices using EA604/2 together with EA604/4 adapter and four devices using 2pcs EA604/2 and 1pc EA604/4.
Question: Is it possible to use battery as power supply for external device?
Answer: Yes, if the battery is able to supply 500mA at voltage higher than 12.5V. We do not recommend to connect voltage higher than 20V. Please connect - (minus) to the middle of connector.
Question: My computer does not support EPP mode of parallel port. What can I do?
Answer: The EMLII devices require parallel port in EPP mode. However, it is possible to buy EC602 USB adapter and connect your device through USB.
Question: What is the difference between DFT and FFT spectrum analysis?
Answer: The accuracy and speed is the main difference. The DFT is slower and more accurate, while FFT is faster and less accurate.
Question: What is the shortest possible time between two samples?
Answer: While measuring non-periodical waveforms, the shortest time is 20ns. While measuring periodical waveforms, it is possible to shorten this time to 200ps (random sampling method).
Question: Where can I find software for Linux operating system.
Answer: Sorry, the Linux compatible software is not available.
